Burghound, June 2017: Domaine Darviot-Perrin – new wines coming in

**COMING SOON**

AP Wine Imports welcomes the highly acclaimed 2014 selection from Domaine Darviot-Perrin.  Below are the reviews from Burghound.com:

Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru – “Blanchots Dessus”-94 pts

“A copiously layered nose features notes of citrus peel, resin, petrol, lilac, pear, white peach and soft wood nuances. There is seriously good size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered and admirably concentrated flavors that possess evident power and this is particularly so on the serious, palate staining and hugely long finish. If this built-to-age baby Montrachet can add more depth it should merit the upper end of my predicted range though note well that this is definitely going to require patience.”

Meursault 1er Cru – “Les Perrieres”-93 pts

“Very firm reduction does not extend to the well-delineated and energetic middle weight flavors that terminate with cuts-like-a-knife delineation on the intensely mineral-inflected finish. This is also somewhat youthfully austere with fine complexity and an almost Chablis-like salinity on the balanced backend.”

Meursault 1er Cru – “Les Genevrieres”-93 pts

“Here too there is a hint of reduction but it’s not enough to really affect the expressiveness of the honeysuckle, acacia blossom, white peach and citrus peel suffused nose. The rich but strikingly refined and mouth coating flavors brim with dry extract that pushes the otherwise firm acid spine to the background on the complex, intense and youthfully austere finish. This should also be approachable young but reward up to 10 years of bottle age.”

Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 1er Cru – “Les Bondues”-92 pts

“A ripe and cool mélange is composed pepper, plum, dark berries, earth and the barest hint of the sauvage. There is plenty of power to the vibrant and attractively well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that display a taut muscularity before terminating in a clean, focused and strongly persistent finish that displays almost no rusticity. This is worth checking out if you’re willing to allow it at least 5 years of cellaring.”

Meursault – “Clos de la Velle”-90 pts

“A classic Meursault nose is comprised by notes of hazelnut, white orchard fruit and soft floral nuances. There is more volume and richness to the delicious medium weight flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel while delivering fine length on the lingering finish where a hint of bitter lemon appears.”
