Jancis Robinson reviews the Northern Rhone reds from 2015, including the following from Pierre & Jeanne Gaillard:

Pierre Gaillard

St Jospeh Rouge2015 St-Joseph-16.5pts (Distinguished to Superior)

“100% Syrah. More restrained nose than the Terre de Mandrin (Collines Rhodaniennes) but lovely round, silky texture with good lift. Neat finish and notably long. Bravo! Drink 2018-2022”

Clos de Cuminaille2015 St-Joseph “Clos de Cuminaille”-16.5pts (Distinguished to Superior)

“100% Syrah. Tank sample. Quite intense and glossy. Lots of satisfaction! Liquorice and tar but with no shortage of fruit. Drink 2018-2025.”

Jeanne Gaillard

Jeanne Gaillard Syrah Terres de Mandrin2015 Syrah Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes “Terres de Mandrin”-16pts (Distinguished)

“100% Syrah. Intense, luscious nose comes soaring out of the glass. Very firm and ripe with a very dry finish. Would make an excellent GV introduction to the vintage. Drink 2017-2020.”

saint joseph la releve2015 St-Joseph “La Relève”-16.5pts (Distinguished to Superior)

“100% Syrah. Tank sample. New generation, Jeanne’s cuvée. Not that expressive at this stage. Juicy and salty but seems more informed by winemaking than the regular cuvée. Should get there but it’s a tad dry and inky on the end at the moment. Drink 2019-2024.”
