#VinDuJour: 2012 Saint Emilion, Yon-Saint-Martin

#vindujourYon-St-MartinWith the start of the New Year, we are kicking off our brand new blog series: #VinDuJour, in which we feature terrific little-known old world wines at reasonable prices, most of them sold exclusively by AP Wine Imports in the US.

Today’s pick is the 2012 Saint Emilion Grand Cru from Yon-Saint-Martin, one of several wineries owned by Vignobles Alain Chateau.  Located in the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation, this vintage is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, and is aromatically rich, with sophisticated woodsy, fruity notes.  The 2012 Saint-Emilion pairs beautifully with spicier dishes, and entrees with just about any kind of meat-lamb, pork, beef, and poultry.
