Château Branaire-Ducru

Château Branaire-Ducru is a Fourth Growth of Saint-Julien, between Margaux and Pauillac.

Jean-Baptiste Braneyre bought part of the Beychevelle estate in 1680, the château was built in 1824 by his Du Luc descendants, and the estate was classified in 1855. The Maroteaux family has owned it since 1988; François-Xavier Maroteaux took over management from his father Patrick in 2017.

Sixty hectares on Garonne gravel are planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, and a new 100% gravity-fed vat room opened in 2024.
