Château Coutet

Château Coutet

Château Coutet, in Barsac, is a Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes and Barsac, recognised as a First Growth in 1855.

Its history begins with a 13th-century fortress with a square tower; in 1643 Charles Le Guérin started the winemaking estate, and Thomas Jefferson called it 'the best Sauternes in Barsac' in 1787. The Baly family has owned it since 1977. Coutet 2014 ranked third in Wine Spectator's Top 100 World Wines.
