Château de Camensac
Château de Camensac is a Fifth Growth of the Haut-Médoc (Grand Cru Classé 1855), on the border with Saint-Julien. Joseph Popp bought it at auction in 1799; Elysée and Henri Forner restored the vineyard from 1964, and Jean Merlaut and Céline Villars-Foubet have owned it since 2005.
The estate covers 150 hectares, 86 of them in production across 123 plots, on Gunzian and Villafranchian gravel and clay over shallow limestone, planted 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. It earned HVE level 3 in 2021. La Closerie de Camensac is the second wine.
