Château Ferrière

Château Ferrière is a Third Growth of Margaux and, at 12 hectares, the smallest property among the 1855 Grands Crus Classés.
In the mid-18th century it belonged to Gabriel Ferrière, of the court of Louis XV, and stayed in his family until 1914. The Villars family bought the vineyards and château in 1988 and took over the winemaking in 1992; Claire Villars-Lurton leads the estate. The vines grow on deep gravel over limestone. Les Remparts de Ferrière is the second wine.
