Château Haut-Brion

Château Haut-Brion, in Pessac, is one of the four Premiers Grands Crus Classés named for red wine in the 1855 classification.

The estate's history traces wine-growing here to the mid-1st century AD, with the first written mention of the wine in 1521; Jean de Pontac acquired the manorial rights in 1533 and began the château in 1549. Haut-Brion started systematic estate bottling in 1923. Clarence Dillon bought the estate on 13 May 1935, and Prince Robert of Luxembourg has been chairman and CEO since 2008.
