Château Sociando-Mallet

Château Sociando-Mallet

Château Sociando-Mallet, in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, is a Haut-Médoc estate that Jean Gautreau bought in 1969, when it had 5 hectares of vines.

It now has 83 hectares on Gunz gravel over clay-limestone, on the Butte de Baleyron, with vines averaging 35 years old and planted 54% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. The vines are pruned short and picked entirely by hand, and the estate makes nearly 450,000 bottles a year. Sylvie Gautreau has managed it since 2015. La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet is the second wine.
