Château Larrivaux

Château Larrivaux

Château Larrivaux, in Cissac in the Haut-Médoc, has belonged to women of the same family since 1580. Since 2005 it has been run by Bérangère Tesseron, who left a career as a lawyer to become a winemaker; her husband Basile runs neighbouring Château Lafon-Rochet.

Only about 20 of the estate's roughly 80 hectares are in vines, planted to 61% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot on thin soil over starry limestone. The wine ferments in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel and ages in barrel for at least 14 months.
