Domaine de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan Rouge

The red grand vin of Domaine de Chevalier, a Grand Cru Classé de Graves in Pessac-Léognan, owned by the Bernard family since 1983. Gravel over a clay-gravel subsoil; hand-picked and sorted, then aged 16-20 months in barrel (about 35% new). The 2011 was 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot: deep, dark, with blackberry, blueberry, spice, leather and menthol, fleshy and concentrated with firm tannins and a fresh, mineral edge.
